Knots for Braided Line Fishing Knots

Braided fishing line is stronger and thinner than monofilament, but its slick surface makes some knots unreliable. The knots below have been tested and proven to hold securely with braid. For terminal connections, the Palomar Knot is the top choice. For braid-to-leader connections, the FG Knot and Double Uni Knot are the standards.
Why Braid Needs Special Knots
Braided line is made from woven ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers. This gives it incredible strength in a tiny diameter, but the smooth, slippery surface means traditional knots designed for nylon monofilament can slip and fail. Knots that work on braid typically use doubled-line passes, multiple wraps, or weaving techniques that create a friction grip on the smooth surface.
